President – Joy Goberville
With over 20 years experience in the Staffing Industry, Joy Goberville has been providing companies with value-added solutions throughout North America. Her expertise includes launching new divisions, building sales teams, hiring and training, creating recruiting and retention plans, and global account management. She is active in Southeast Michigan’s various non-profit organizations that support workforce development. She is also a member of professional networking organizations such as Michigan Council for Women in Technology, Ann Arbor SPARK Shifting Gears, Human Capital Institute, Executive Suite, Technology Leaders Association, and Point of Sale Professionals. Joy graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Ella Norman recently retired from the City of Detroit for over 25 years. Over 21 of those years have been with Detroit Water and Sewerage Department. Most recently she was the Manager of the DWSD Service Desk, providing customer support and assurance for the 2500 computer users in the Water Department. Ella has worked in various assignments for the City. Ella has several degrees including one in Computer Sciences. She is a certified Help Desk Analyst, Certified in ITIL Foundations v3 and a Certified Practitioner in Support and Restore and Configuration and Release. With the Motown Chapter for some time, she has held the positions of membership chair and program co-chair. Outside the IT sphere, she is a Board member of the Joy-Southfield Community Development Corporation, Health and Education Center, and a member of the Chief’s Advisory Committee to the Chief of Police of the City of Detroit. Ella serves the United States with a current appointment to the Selective Service Board. With several colleagues, she is a partner in a collaborative effort, which handles forensic psychological case management of probationers, and parolees in Oakland County.
Janet currently serves as the Senior IT Helpdesk Manager for CORT Business Services. She has over twelve years experience in the IT Service and support industry. Over the past 17 years as a dedicated employee of CORT, Janet has held several positions: Administration Manager for the Detroit District, Field Auditor for the West Coast Office Regional Office, Helpdesk Specialist, Project Manager for several PeopleSoft implementations, and now as Senior Helpdesk Manager.
Janet presently manages an 8-person virtual helpdesk staff that supports 2, 200 internal users for their PC, Exchange, application, and network needs.
Janet received her Bachelors degree from Western Michigan University and her Master’s degree from Walsh College.
When she is not busy working, Janet enjoys spending time gardening, cooking, and spending time with her 10-year-old daughter
Dan is the acting Director of the Department of Technology Management and Budget (DTMB) IT Help Desk, which supports all State of Michigan employees. When combined with his permanent position, Director of Field Services, he is integrally responsible for IT Customer Service to 50,000 state workers.
Prior to this, Dan was the Program Manager for Michigan/1, the most ambitious IT consolidation and desktop standardization project in any state government to date. The Michigan/1 Program included statewide network upgrades, consolidation of disparate data centers and creation of a sustainable standard desktop infrastructure environment. The award winning program achieves significant cost avoidance for taxpayers, year after year.
Dan’s job—and 5 sons are in Lansing, but his wife, Laura, and their home are in Ann Arbor. At both ends of the daily commute, he enjoys his family. When he finds time, he loves to golf.
Steve Summers is currently employed with the U-M Health System as an IT Director. At U-M Health System he is responsible for a diverse team of 30 developers, system/business/clinical/pharmacy analysts. The role maintains responsibility over the Clinical Data Repository, in-patient orders management (Allscripts Sunrise Clinical), Careweb (Custom/Java patient-centric EMR used across ambulatory care and in-patient) and middle tier application support including: Apache, Tomcat, WebSphere, .Net, Oracle, etc..
Prior to U-M, he was employed with Pfizer Pharmaceuticals Inc. and spent the bulk of his career focused on the support of research systems.
Steve has a Bachelors Degree in Biology from The University of Toledo and is an alumnus of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He is a member of EPIC Toledo, HIMSS (Health care Information and Management Systems Society) and a Board Trustee at West Side Montessori Center. He holds certifications as a SGI Administrator, ITIL Foundations v2 & v3, and additional certificates focused on Leadership and process management. Outside of work you will find Steve focused on family activities, technology and fitness. Steve has been married for 18 wonderful years to Catherine Summers and has two girls (seven and nine).
Thom has been employed at Fiserv, a Fortune 500 company in the financial services sector, for the past 27 years. He has served in many different roles for the Galaxy business line at Fiserv, including Support Analyst, Training Specialist, Quality Assurance Analyst, and Development Supervisor. He is currently the manager of the Software Support and Mergers/Training teams who provide external support for proprietary software to over 200 financial institutions across the U.S. Thom leads fifteen HDI-Certified Support Analysts and four Training/Project Specialists dedicated to supporting a suite of Fiserv products. In 2007, Thom was part of a team of new support managers who implemented several quality improvement programs including standardized reviews of service tickets and phone calls. The programs resulted in a significant increase in customer satisfaction scores and continue to help maintain the goal of service excellence. Thom has an Associate’s degree in Business Administration from Oakland Community College and a Bachelor’s degree from University of Phoenix in Business Management. He has also obtained HDI Service Desk Manager certification. Thom enjoys an annual camp out in the woods each fall, travelling to the Caribbean, mountain biking, gardening, and visiting his many relatives across the U.S.
